While the IBM I-series is still probably the most reliable server in the market, HW and SW Maintenance is still strongly recommended.In most cases we recommend IBM extended warranties for new equipment.TBTF can assist you in understanding and choosing the best options (i.e. 7 x 24, MF 9-5, onsite vs. remote replacement) to make sure your needs are met.

However as IBM equipment becomes older, many times IBM will no longer support it or the cost becomes onerous.We work with a number of alternative maintenance providers that can fill these gaps.And they can often fill similar gaps with other vendor’s products maintenance (e.g. HP, Dell, EMC, Cisco, and many more).We have seen many cases where we can develop a complete enterprise maintenance solution and save customers over 50% vs. Manufacturer options.

From an IBM Operating System support standpoint, we of course cannot offer defect support, but can offer proven technicians with real world experience in non supported OS levels on a best efforts basis.And possibly a contractual basis with a full definition of the requirements.
